Emily Anne Mandell (Age 2)

On March 30, 2009 Emily Anne Mandell, Of Reston, VA, passed away at Children's Hospital Boston, Boston MA. Emily is a blessing to her loving parents Brian and Katie Mandell. She is also survived by her devoted grandparents; Greg and Cheryle Robison and Mike and Sandy Mandell. She will be missed by her Golden Retriever "Trotter" and she has touched so many lives in her short life. Relatives and friends are invited to Emily's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave, Vienna, VA on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to "Cure ATRT Now" Fund c/o Dr. Susan Chi Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Dana-Farber Cancer Institute 44 Binney Street SW 331, Boston, MA 02118. Brian and Katie,

I live in England and I fell upon your story and Emily's story through a blog I enjoyed reading. nothing has pricked my heart quite so poigantly since.

For various dull reasons I haven't checked been on the site for a while and was stunned today to discover Emily had passed. She was the most amazing, brave, beautiful and inspiring child I have ever read about. I am so sorry for your loss. Emily is now pain free and is no doubt getting things ship shape where she is at - and laughing, a lot.

It is hard to find the words, but I'm thinking of you.

Emily may be gone, but she will never be forgotten by the hundreds of thousands of people who knew who story and yours.
